School Uniform

Ready for Learning

All pupils are required to wear school uniform at Hawthorn High School and it is important to acknowledge that appearance is closely related to the school’s Code of Conduct.

Our uniform does the following:

  • provides a sense of identity and generates pride in our school and what it stands for
  • supports positive behaviour and school discipline
  • ensures pupils are suitably dressed to participate in all learning activities
  • removes peer pressure
  • enables pupils from all backgrounds to share a common identity
  • supports and promotes the ethos of our school

School Uniform

 Years 7 and 8

  • White formal shirt (no blouses)
  • School tie
  • Navy blue v – neck jumper with school badge (optional)
  • Dark grey/black school trousers (no skinny fit, or jeans-style, black cotton, or denim) OR knee-length, pleated or A-line black skirt
  • Black flat shoes (no canvas trainers or boots)
  • Black or dark blue school coat (No hoodies – a hoody is a non – waterproof hooded jacket)
  • Official school navy blue blazer with gold piping and school badge

Years 9 – 11

  • White formal shirt (no blouses)
  • School tie
  • Black V – neck jumper with school badge (optional)
  • Dark grey/black school trousers (no skinny fit, or jeans-style, black cotton, or denim) OR knee-length black skirt
  • Black shoes (no canvas trainers or boots)
  • Black or dark blue school coat (No hoodies)
  • Official school grey blazer with gold piping and school badge

PE Uniform

Girls

  1. Black shorts with school logo
  2. Black t-shirt with school logo
  3. Black sweatshirt (no hoodies)
  4. Black hockey socks
  5. Black leggings
  6. Black swimming costume (Black rash vest is also permitted)

Boys

  1. Black Shorts with school logo
  2. Black t-shirt  with school logo
  3. Black sweatshirt (no hoodies)
  4. Black Football socks
  5. Black track suit bottoms
  6. Black swim shorts (Black rash vest is also permitted)

Essential Equipment for all pupils

  • Writing equipment
  • Coloured pencils
  • Ruler
  • Protractor
  • Compass
  • Scientific Calculator
  • Glue stick
  • English Reading Book (Yr 7 -9)
  • French Dictionary (Yr 7 – 9)
  • Equipment to be brought to school in an appropriately sized bag
