WJEC English Language and Literature A/AS Level
Taking English Language and Literature at A Level is a fantastic way to explore both language and literature. You will develop your own communication skills in both speech and writing which will make you a good candidate for University, thus increasing your employability.
The coverage of A-level English Language and Literature is broader than that of English Literature A level since, in addition to the study of novels, poetry and plays, it includes the study of non-fiction spoken and written texts as well as providing exciting opportunities for creative writing.
As observers, readers and writers, you will be inspired by learning about spoken and written language from real and imagined worlds and you will engage with the craft of writing to create your own texts.
The course will encourage you to develop your interest and enjoyment in English as you:
– Use integrated linguistic and literary approaches in their reading and interpretation of texts.
– Engage creatively and independently with a wide range of spoken, written and multimodal texts, exploring the relationships between texts.
– Undertake independent and sustained studies to develop their skills as producers and interpreters of language.
